- Description
A beautiful and stylish Directoire from the French revolution era, circa 1790. Made from Mahogany and Mahogany veneer. The top itself is made from grey Sainte-Anne marble. The chest is made up of three drawers, the top being made to look as three and is internally divided which sits above two full width drawers below. The locks are clover shaped but no keys are present. The frame corners are fluted and inlayed with brass along with the inner drawer line and handles. The legs are tapered with brass banding. A very stylised and modern looking piece of furniture considering its age. Originally purchased from a leading London auction house and then enjoyed by a private collector. The Directoire is in very good condition with some sign of wear and use. There has been some shrinkage to the top-drawer base and has been photographed.
