Here we have a wonderful hand carved antique wooden figure of a putto holding a trident fork which most likely dates from around the early 19th Century and is European in origin. This is a large carved figure in hardwood which has beautifully carved features with stunning wear and patina. There are signs of wear and repair but in very good and complete order and is just charming to say the least. A very unique piece. There is a fixing escutcheon located on the back so as it can be hung. Possibly, this would have been bolted to a piece of large furniture, a posted bed frame or armoire for example or banister etc. Purchased from one of London's leading auction houses, this has then remained with a private collector.
